Yakouchuu II – Satsujin Kouro is a Nintendo 64 video game released exclusively in Japan in 1999. It was developed and published by Athena.
Game Play
This is a text based game, visual novel/sound novel, in the ‘choose your own path’ style novel. The player can read the story up to a point, and then has to make a choice about what the characters do, by selecting one of the various options. Each option may have various outcomes depending on the options that were used before. There is background music, and sound effects, while the main screen of the game is presented by a series of images showing the player’s location. The text appears over the image, but can be removed momentarily, to see the background image more clearly.
Story
On the maiden voyage of the ‘Dynasty’, there is a mysterious explosion, and the passangers must get into the life boats. One of the boats gets lost in the fog, and is seemingly rescued by a ship called ‘Pandora’. Once on the ship, murders begin to be perpetrate. The player must discover the identity of the murderer, after that, other endings can be unlocked. Although it is a sequel to the earlier Super Famicom/Game Boy Color game ‘Yakōchū‘, the two mysteries aren’t connected.
